Mechanical music from the ballet Coppélia, set in the workshop of the eccentric doll maker Dr Coppelius. In the original ballet this is a fiendishly high piccolo feature, but here it is set more comfortable key, and although the Piccolo still takes centre stage, the 1st (and 2nd) Flutes also have their moments to shine. The 3rd flute and Alto Flute parts are slightly less challenging, making it ideal for a mixed grade ensemble. This makes a great companion piece to D016 (Scene & Waltz of the Doll) which is set for the same instrumentation.
