This piece was written for the Magnard Ensemble as part of their Odd Dog Out project, a musical animated film of Rob Biddulph’s beautiful early years picture book Odd Dog Out. Catriona McDermid (the bassoonist in the Ensemble) composed Doggywood! to accompany the scene where the protagonist sausage dog arrives in the bustling flamboyant city of Doggywood. Please feel free to imagine fabulously dressed sausage dogs trotting around as you play this tune! This stylish, jaunty little number is great for kid's concerts, or will make a splendid encore to send an audience on their merry way with a spring in their step.
