No apologies for some sweet nostalgia here!
The original poem appears in A.A. Milne's 1924 poetry book When We Were Very Young, and it's actually the first time we meet Christopher Robin, predating the first Winnie the Pooh book of 1926.
My lovely Dad used to sing this to my brother and I when we were little, with Mum on piano. I could hear his rich, warm baritone voice clearly in my head when arranging it, which was as good a reason as any to make 3 different versions for different shaped flute groups. You may have heard (or remember!) versions by Vera Lynn or Gracie Fields and might recall its slightly recitative style; the piece will benefit from a flexible, sensitive approach in larger ensembles, and for smaller groups it will be a little treasure.
